This programme provides a solid grounding in the contemporary theories of gender, while teaching quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.The MSc in Gender (Research) combines a thorough grounding in contemporary theories of gender with advanced training in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. Based in the Department of Gender Studies, you’ll also take courses in the Department of Methodology, which is a base for cross-disciplinary research and teaching in social science.This programme is particularly well-suited to students who are considering further study although previous graduates from the programme have also gone on to pursue careers in research and consultancy for government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in countries across the globe.Some graduates also work in international organisations, undertaking humanitarian, charity, and personnel work. Others have pursued careers in civil and diplomatic services, representative politics, advocacy, the legal profession, academia, media and communication, and education.Graduate destinations:Our students go on to work in varied career paths: research and consultancy for government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in developed and less developed countries, international organisations, humanitarian and charity work, personnel work, civil and diplomatic services, representative politics, advocacy, the legal profession, academia, media and communication and in education.
