We have collaborated with Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) to create an exciting programme of study in Fire Scene Investigation which will see you investigate the cause and origin of fires, using multi-disciplinary science and research methodology. For your dissertation youll get to study an area of fire science that interests you, taking responsibility for designing, conducting, analysing and interpreting the results of a substantial investigation thatll also be contributing to the discipline. Youll gain valuable work experience with an opportunity to undertake a professional placement as part of your MSc, or choose an industry-based project. Dual accredited by the Energy Institute (EI) and the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE). Benefit from our new £35m Engineering Innovation Centre, including purpose-built fire laboratories, supported by state-of-the-art computational fluid dynamics facilities, analytical and material characterisation facilities for fire chemistry and fire safety engineering. Youll have unique access to Washington Hall, the UKs international fire, training and development centre. As a graduate of the Fire Scene Investigation course youll be well placed to work in fire investigation teams, forensic science laboratories, and fraud departments in major government or private organisations. Or, you could go on to further research in academia.
Applicants should hold at least 2:2 degree in related subject such as Forensic Science or Chemistry or Fire Safety. Higher National Certificate or Higher National Diploma in an appropriate discipline combined with appropriate professional experience.
