Location: The university's location is ideal for students who enjoy a blend of urban and suburban environments. It’s close enough to the city center to benefit from all the amenities while maintaining a peaceful campus atmosphere conducive to studying. Student Support: The student support at York is exceptional. Academic advisors, mental health services, and career counselors are readily available, demonstrating the university's commitment to student welfare. Campus Look and Feel: The campus is beautifully landscaped, with a mix of modern and historic buildings that create a unique and inspiring environment. The green spaces are perfect for relaxing between classes. Student Life: Student life at York is vibrant and diverse, with numerous clubs, societies, and events. There's something for everyone, whether you're interested in sports, arts, or social activism. Students' Union: The Students' Union is active and does a great job in representing students’ interests. They organize various events throughout the year and provide valuable services. Overall rating: My overall rating reflects the high-quality education and supportive environment at York. The blend of rigorous academics and a thriving student life creates a rewarding university experience. Best aspects of the uni experience: The inclusive community that welcomes students from all backgrounds. The mentorship programs that connect new students with experienced ones. The focus on practical skills through various workshops and internships. Areas for improvement: Accommodation Details and Arrangements: Timely dissemination of information regarding accommodation options and booking procedures is crucial. There have been instances where international students faced challenges due to delayed updates, resulting in difficulties finding suitable dormitories. It would be beneficial for the university to streamline this process and ensure that information is released well in advance for adequate planning. Tips for Future Students: Engage with the community and join clubs early on to make the most of your university experience. Take advantage of the university's career services from the beginning of your studies. Explore the city as well as the campus to fully appreciate the unique location of York University.

Good aspects: The campus is well maintained The University has good facilities and societies Poorer aspect: The Student Support is strong. But could be stronger. I come from a less well off socio-economic background than many, but was not given a bursary / grant. I applied, and would have liked the support - but was not offered it, though I was told I ‘came close’? The lack of parking facilities for students could be improved, especially for those who live very rurally when back home. The lack of student bar (i.e. cheaper drinks or food) means that students are forced to consider heading into the city for cheaper drinks.

The campus environment exudes a sense of tranquility and serenity, making it a truly delightful place to be. The staff and student union members, along with the campus safety team, are exceptionally responsive and readily available to assist with any needs or concerns. Additionally, the provision of sanitary items in every campus restroom is a thoughtful and practical touch. However, there is room for improvement in a couple of areas. While there are a variety of events taking place, they are not adequately promoted, which is a missed opportunity. These events offer valuable resources and support that every student should be aware of. To address this, it would be beneficial to enhance the marketing and visibility of these events, ensuring that all students are well-informed about them. Offering event recordings for those who may have missed them would also be a constructive way to make these resources more accessible to the student body.
