One of the best aspects of my university experience at Cardiff University has been the overall sense of community. The university has a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, and it’s easy to feel part of something bigger than just your course. The Students’ Union plays a big role in this, offering a wide range of societies, sports clubs and events that make it easy to meet new people and try new things. This has really helped me build friendships and develop confidence outside of my academic work. Academically, I’ve appreciated the expertise and enthusiasm of many of the lecturers. When teaching is engaging and well-structured, it makes a huge difference to motivation and understanding. I’ve also found that most staff are approachable and willing to offer support during office hours or via email. The library and study spaces are another strong point – they are modern, well-equipped and provide a good environment for both independent and group study. Cardiff as a city also adds to the experience. It’s compact, relatively affordable compared to other UK cities, and everything is within walking distance, which makes student life more convenient and enjoyable. However, there are also areas that could be improved. At times, communication can feel inconsistent, particularly around assessment details, deadlines or timetable changes. Clearer and more centralised communication across modules would reduce confusion and unnecessary stress. Small improvements in organisation can have a big impact on the overall student experience. Another challenge has been access to facilities during busy periods. Study spaces in the library can become very crowded during exam season, making it difficult to find quiet areas to work. Extending opening hours further during peak times or increasing available quiet study areas would help support students during high-pressure periods. Overall, my experience at Cardiff University has been positive, with strong teaching, a vibrant student community and a great city to live in. With improved communication and better management of study spaces during busy times, the experience could be even better.

-The area is always full of students; it feels very safe - Very close to city centre and lots to explore, including parks -The student union is always hosting good events, and the SU building is very nice

Amazing array of study areas and facilities, however some lecturers sometimes don’t make lectures engaging enough and remain monotone throughout the full 2 hours which makes it hard to concentrate

Going out for student union nights on Wednesday with my society is great, don't enjoy the weather in wales but the rest is great.

Best is the social side and facilities. Amazing SU and nightlife. The worst in my opinion is the exam style in terms of too many available marks in a limited time. For example I have an upcoming exam worth 100 marks with only 1 hour to complete it.
