The Cybersecurity MSc is designed to provide a firm grasp of cybersecurity in all major aspects of its existence and practice. This includes a comprehensive understanding of concepts, tools and techniques that are useful for solving problems, and an understanding of rules, regulations, ethical and professional policies that may apply to the field of cybersecurity.
The course is provisionally certified by the NCSC and the learning content is tailored to the NCSC cybersecurity body of knowledge.
As a conversion programme, it is offered to students without IT-related backgrounds. The learning process takes a bottom-up approach to expose conversion students to the fundamental concepts and technical details and gradually introduces them to the more complex aspects. You will gain practical experience to develop your confidence, mindset and important skills that are required in joining the skilled workforce to meet the needs of industry and government.
There is an option to choose a Project/Placement year for this course, at an additional cost.
A good first Degree (normally a 2:2 or above) is required. This is a conversion course and is therefore open to applicants of any discipline so long as they meet this requirement and have a keen interest in computing with some knowledge of the use of computers.
All applicants are expected to have good experience in using one desktop and one mobile operating system. They must have skills in using basic computing or cybersecurity tools and competency in using any of the relevant operating systems (Windows, Linux).
All applicants should be willing to develop technical skills as part of this course and may be required to attend a short interview before confirmation of acceptance into the course.
