Overview

The role of a Construction and Project Manager is to take responsibility for this outcome, managing all elements of the job, including contractors, materials, budgets and timelines.

A complex and often high-pressure role, requiring a methodical mind and excellent coordination skills, it's also one that can be hugely satisfying.

You'll graduate ready to take on major ventures, and be able to co-ordinate them efficiently and effectively.

You will gain an industry-recognised qualification as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) accredit this course. As such, there is a requirement for formal moderated examinations for three of the modules. You will be required to make arrangements to sit these examinations in your country and be responsible for any costs involved. Combined with a suitable BEng accredited undergraduate degree, the course will then satisfy the academic requirements of the UK Engineering Council for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

Assessments

Assessment methods include:

  • Formal moderated end of trimester examinations for three modules: Project Risk Management, Project Appraisal & Finance, Production Management
  • Report writing
  • Case-study assignments
  • Time constrained assessments
  • Research Dissertation

Exams: You will be required to make arrangements to sit these examinations in the country where you are based and be responsible for any costs involved. UK based students are expected to sit the examinations at Edinburgh Napier University. Details of exam weeks are available on the intranet.

Careers

You will graduate into an industry where your skills are in high demand. With the resurgence in the property market and investment both by the private and public sector in capital projects and infrastructure, there is an increasing demand for Construction Project Managers to service the numerous projects coming on-line across the UK and further afield.
