A Master’s by Research degree allows you to focus on independent research rather than being taught. Your independent research will normally develop your existing knowledge of a subject and focusses on training researchers for a professional career or preparation for a PhD.

Course Overview
During the MSc by Research programme you will develop your research in your chosen subject area supported by supervisors from academic and industry backgrounds you will submit your research as a final single thesis to show your research findings for final examination.
Teaching and Learning
Taught modules are normally delivered in intensive one-week blocks. They are taught through a variety of learning activities: lectures seminar work syndicate group activities industrial games practical exercises and case studies to encourage teamwork and practical grounding of the material. E-learning and forum activities are widely used to complement these activities.
Entry requirements 2:1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Engineering Computer Science Chemistry Physics Maths or a relevant subject.
