Our Business Analytics (MSc) programme allows you to develop a range of practical in-demand skills for extracting and handling ‘big data’, with a specific focus on the application of data analytics for decision-making in real-life business contexts.You’ll learn from experts in Cardiff Business School and the School of Mathematics who specialise in various applications of data science, operational research and analytics across a range of manufacturing and service industries, discovering and communicating meaningful patterns from the data, and applying analytical tools to help private and public sector businesses make better strategic and operational decisions.You’ll work with advanced software and core business and mathematical theory and practice, preparing you for employment and ensuring your success in an interconnected, diverse and rapidly evolving global business arena. The programme provides excellent grounding for careers in a range of analytics, data management and consultancy roles.Together, we’ll explore key topics of operations analytics, time series and forecasting, strategic operations management, enterprise research planning, and risk management, while developing your research skills and proficiency for data analysis and machine learning. Throughout the programme, you will develop and apply the key technical and soft skills required to become an effective specialist in business data analytics. Your expertise will build cumulatively across the programme while you are given multiple opportunities to explore research and practice and respond to practical challenges. This will give you an advantage as you enter or return to the workplace as a business analytics specialist.
A copy of your degree certificate and transcripts which show you have achieved a 2:1 honours degree in a relevant subject area such as computer science, engineering, finance, management or mathematics, or an equivalent international degree. A copy of your IELTS certificate with an overall score of 6.5 with 5.5 in all subskills, or evidence of an accepted equivalent and TOEFL: At least 90 overall with minimum scores of 17 for writing, 17 for listening, 18 for reading, and 20 for speaking.
