Why study building surveying?
Building Surveying encompasses a wide range of activities related to design, construction and property management. Whilst emphasis is often on existing buildings, building surveyors are involved in all aspects of buildings, from conception, feasibility, design and construction to their strategic and tactical management, repair refurbishment, conversion and conservation.
You don’t need a specific degree or related professional experience to join our MSc Building Surveying. It’s open to students worldwide and designed to be accessible to people from a wide range of backgrounds.

Where can it take me?
This innovative MSc Building Surveying is designed for graduates looking to change career and qualify as a Chartered Building Surveyor and/or Chartered Building Engineer. This course is fully accredited as a postgraduate route to Chartered Building Surveyor and/or Chartered Building Engineer status.
Many of our graduates move straight into employment, while others use their new skills to progress in their current roles or step into management positions with their current employer.
You can choose to study this course on a full-time or part-time basis, giving you flexibility to study around your work and other commitments. Both study routes are highly valued by employers, and our employability record is excellent.
Both the full-time and part-time courses are accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
We're currently seeking re-accreditation from the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE).
Both courses satisfy the academic requirements for entry to the RICS. You must spend a minimum of two years in practice and pass the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) set by the RICS before you can achieve chartered status.
You can become a student member of the RICS while you study, and part-time students can start the APC if in relevant employment, subject to RICS regulations.
We normally require an honours degree at 2:2 or above.
