So many different study spaces keep it interesting and very easy to meet different people to catch up and relax or to work hard as different spaces for different things

I am currently on my second year studying at Heriot-Watt University but decided after first year that I wanted to change my course as it did not feel like it was the right thing for me. The departments in both my old course and the mathematics department, of which I am now a part of, couldn't have been more helpful and put myself at ease during a rather difficult decision and transition. With the maths department there is so much support with both lecturers and the others that take the course too and are never left feeling like you are alone. There are multitudes of study spaces so no matter what kind of space you are looking for, a quiet room, group study space, somewhere with an atmosphere around it, there is always something for you to find. The student facilities are great as well and extremely welcoming. The student shop is open until 10pm everyday so you're not without some necessities for long if you are either living on campus or are having a long day of studying there, an the student union which has a cafe and a bar with kitchen is always a great place to be able to relax for a little while or have a bit of time out with some friends. This is open from 9am till late every day. So, there is always something to do, this is especially useful as one downside to Heriot-Watt is the location. Don't get me wrong it is a beautiful sight and I love the quietness of it as that is more of what I am used to over the big city life, however, the university is just that little bit out of the way and makes it slightly more awkward for getting in and out of central. The buses are great, but regardless of how well the buses may be it can still take up to an hour to get in to the city centre depending the time of day and the traffic. But like it said, that is only one downfall in oppose to the many, many positives of which there are at Heriot-Watt University.

It is a great location and the campus is nicely spread out. The food situation could be better by including more options catering to more dietary requirements.

Lecturers and staff fantastic, and amazing campus. Great facilities. I think support for students should be better advertised (i.e. not through emails, as they can be buried).

Best experience: Having access to so much support, whether that be the careers office or the student. Even the maths support was there. Worst experience: The lecturers seem like a hit or miss. The lecturers are either amazing or they have no idea what they are doing. Improvement would be to have all of the lecturers look at their feedback and not only consider the good stuff, but also work on the things that are not working.
