Our MSc Applied Bioscience course will equip you with an array of practical and conceptual skills which are vital for a career in biosciences, whether in an academic, clinical or industrial setting.You’ll develop advanced knowledge and skills in diverse areas of applied bioscience, with an emphasis on medical applications. You’ll also gain a comprehensive understanding of advanced analytical techniques.On completion of this Masters degree you’ll be able to confidently design, execute and critically analyse both independent and group-based scientific research in an appropriate area of applied bioscience. Study in our Science Centre in Cambridge and you’ll be immersed in an environment that mirrors a modern laboratory setting.Our specialist facilities include tissue culture and microbiology laboratories, as well as general teaching and research labs. You’ll benefit from the expertise of our Biomedical Science team and our links with Cambridge’s world-renowned research laboratories. Throughout your course you’ll also have the opportunity to attend seminars or events at the city’s many biotechnology companies.
Students need a first or second class Honours Degree (2:1 or 2:2), based in a science related degree or cognate subject, from a UK Higher Education Institution, or its equivalent, or the equivalent in experiential learning (a minimum of five years of qualifying employment). All applicants will be required to demonstrate their preparedness for the modules in Applied Bioscience. Prospective students with non-standard entry qualifications are advised to discuss their personal position with the course leader before applying.
