Students are required to have a minimum of an upper second-class Bachelor's degree in any subject from a UK university, or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard. In addition, they must demonstrate strong mathematical skills, either through achieving a Grade A (or above) in A Level Mathematics or an equivalent qualification if their first degree is not in Mathematics, or by successfully completing the University of Birmingham's Mathematics for AI and Data Science micro credential. Applicants who meet the Bachelor's degree requirement but do not meet the mathematical prerequisites may be offered conditional admission, subject to successful completion of the Mathematics for AI and Data Science micro credential prior to the application deadline.
