Course Summary
The MRes in Sport and Exercise Science is designed to give you the opportunity to develop key research skills focused on sport and related research. Most of your study will involve an independent research project supervised by an established researcher within the School, with the rest based on a core research skills module.
Teaching methods include lectures, workshops, seminars, discussion groups and meetings with your supervisory team. All taught modules are supported by online material. You will work on your project in our refurbished sport and exercise laboratories, excellent modern sports facilities or in collaboration with local community organisations with the support of an existing research group with good community links.
Your Future Career
This course will provide you with an excellent grounding if you are seeking a career in the increasingly competitive research environment, as well as providing a base for further study to MPhil or PhD level. You will benefit from your association with this dynamic and demonstrably successful area of UEL research.
The Applied Sports Sciences Research Group focuses on how sport and physical activity impact on social, psychological and physiological outcomes. It has steadily increased its peer-reviewed research since being established in 2011.
While this course is aimed at students wishing to go into scientific research, it also equips you with skills that will be of vital value to you in a wide range of careers.
Students need to have 2.2 honours degree in a relevant subject. They will normally be expected to have Grade C in GCSE English and Maths.
