The MRes in Sport and Exercise Science is designed to give you the opportunity to develop key research skills focused on sport and related research. Most of your study will involve an independent research project supervised by an established researcher within the School, with the rest based on a core research skills module. Teaching methods include lectures, workshops, seminars, discussion groups and meetings with your supervisory team. All taught modules are supported by online material. You will work on your project in our refurbished sports and exercise laboratories, excellent modern sports facilities or in collaboration with local community organisations with the support of an existing research group with good community links.The majority of your course will be taken up by an independent research project, which will offer 120 credits.The remaining third of the course consists of a core research skills module - which you will take at the beginning of your first year of study - and an optional module. Each is worth 30 credits. For full-time students, this will run concurrently with the research project. Part-time students must complete the skills module prior to starting the project.Teaching methods will include lectures, workshops, seminars, discussion groups and meetings with your supervisory team. It has steadily increased its peer-reviewed research since being established in 2011.
