University of Chichester

Best: Love the small class sizes, communal feel. Allows lecturers to get to know you! Interactive lessons Cons: Sometimes classrooms can be a bit small for the class size. Feel like lecturers sometimes read off slides. Timetabling this year has been a shambles!

The uni is quite small which I like as the classes are small so you get to know your lecturers, meaning they are able to help you even more than they normally would. The facilities are okay, the canteen is big with lots of different choices and the shop has a great meal deal selection. The roads around the uni are always very busy so it can be difficult to get around sometimes.

Chichester is in, my opinion, a great place to study. I have very much enjoyed my time studying at the university, and would certainly recommend to others. It is a smaller campus compared to others, which can be better or worse, depending how you feel, but I love it. Creates a real community feel, and smaller student population means you get to know your peers and lecturers much better, especially when compared to other universities where you may be more of a number on a database. Communication with us a students I have found to always be excellent, sometimes even overwhelming with the number of emails we receive! Student facilities are very good, the Students Union is a good social spot and accommodation I found to be really good as well. Chichester is a smaller town, so student life/night life isn’t quite on the level of other larger towns and cities, though there is still plenty to do; alongside the SU there is plenty of restaurants and pubs in town. The only real problem I actually have with this university is the housing situation for second years, when moving out of halls into private rented housing. Unfortunately this year, my friends and I have had to relocate to Portsmouth and commute in to the university, as a result of the shortage of student houses in Chichester last year. I understand this is something partially out of the university’s control, however, especially when we were informed upon applying that there is plenty of student housing, I personally found Chichester’s student pad to be inadequate and not fit for purpose. I have noticed, however, there is more student housing this year, so potentially this problem is being rectified.

As a mature student I was worried about returning to education and studying with people half my age. I am so glad that I decided to go for it. The other students and tutors have been great and I love the environment.

The past three and a half years at the University of Chichester have been great, the course itself as well as the tutors have enabled me to further myself academically and I would certainly recommend.
