How you learn
We support a wide range of research opportunities and help you work towards your research degree. During the course you investigate and evaluate an approved topic and display an understanding of suitable research methods, with the aim of making an original contribution to your subject area.
Your research will fit within the key thematic areas of the departments. Each provides a focus for research excellence in a strategic research area, drawing together researchers from across our three health and social care departments, the wider Sheffield Hallam University institution, and forging collaborations with partners locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
Future careers
Research degrees are a vital qualification for most academic careers, and for professional specialisation and development in an existing or planned career.
All applicants should hold a strong undergraduate degree (2.1 or above) and/or a relevant masters qualification (or expectation of the same). All applicants must submit a completed postgraduate application form including a 1500 word research proposal.
