Want to study modern languages but don't have the right qualifications? Our Modern Languages (with Foundation Year) will give you the essential skills to thrive in higher education.Our foundation year will prepare you for the demands of university life. You'll focus on critical thinking, academic writing, and research techniques. You will also develop key skills such as digital literacy and reflective learning.Throughout the foundation year, you will take part in practical sessions, group work, and task-based assignments and build a reflective portfolio. You'll get a strong foundation for success in a range of academic disciplines. The course also gives you the chance to specialise in areas related to modern languages and your own personal interests.


Progression to Year 1

After you successfully finish your foundation year, you'll progress onto Year 1 of our BA (Hons) Modern Languages. Prepare for a global future by studying two modern languages from British Sign Language, Chinese, Japanese, or Korean.

Many of our languages graduates have gone abroad to work in teaching, translating and interpreting, and journalism, among others.
