Our new Modern Languages Studies programme enables students to gain a modern languages degree in three years. Through studying a language and cultural modules, students will gain an advanced understanding of how languages are used in a range of professional contexts. Students will be able to focus on one, two, or three languages as part of this degree, enabling them to have an element of flexibility as well as the opportunity to try out a new languages that they may not previously have studied. The languages currently available are French, German, Spanish, and Chinese. If you don’t have the required qualifications for this degree-level course or are looking to re-enter education after time away from study, then a Foundation Year Programme might be the right choice for you. Level 3 qualifications can also be considered in conjunction with another qualification in a relevant Modern Language (e.g. grade C at A level or IB Higher). Please note: There is no specific modern language requirement as all of our Modern Languages degrees can be studied from beginner or advanced level. For those seeking to study Chinese, a demonstrable interest, but no prior knowledge required.
