This is a four year programme that will allow you to qualify in two fields of nursing. Your first field will be adult nursing your second will be mental health nursing.The adult nursing field cares for people over the age of 18 who are ill, recovering from illness or accident, or adapting to life-changing disabilities and long-term conditions. You will learn how to provide person centred care to adults meeting the needs of individuals through acute and long-term illness with both physical and mental health conditions, promote their health and wellbeing, communicate effectively with professional colleagues, and provide sensitive support for the individual and their families.Mental health nursing is a specialist professional course that enables you to make a unique contribution to the health and wellbeing of people of all ages who experience, or may be at risk of developing, mental health problems. Mental health nursing focuses on promoting recovery and improving outcomes for people experiencing mental health problems, based on the philosophy of holistic person-centred care, as well as challenging the stigma, discrimination and inequality often associated with mental illness problems.
