This Masters offers a combination of technical and historical courses across a broad geographic, chronological and thematic range taught be leading experts who often work closely with the outstanding medieval collections of the university’s library, museum and archives. Whether you are intending further study after your Masters or simply looking to engage more deeply with medieval history you’ll also benefit from becoming a member of an active and welcoming postgraduate and staff research community with a regular seminar series and postgraduate reading group and the chance to work one to one with staff. You’ll take one core research training course with other History students and will choose five optional courses and undertake a dissertation. Your optional courses can include language and technical training. You will have the opportunity to undertake language, palaeography and manuscript work practice. You will have the opportunity to work one-to-one with medieval history staff.The research skills and methods you’ll gain on this programme give you the transferable skills you need for positions in the public and private sectors, including heritage policy and projects, media and teaching. The programme is also a good foundation for a PhD.
Entry requirements for postgraduate taught programmes are a 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent qualification (for example, GPA 3.0 or above) in a relevant subject unless otherwise specified
