Overview
Medical Bioscience involves the study of a range of biological science subjects that can be combined to develop a multidisciplinary approach to understanding human health and combatting a variety of diseases.
The MSc Medical Bioscience programme at Bradford provides a platform for the study of the theoretical knowledge and practical skills associated with key subject areas, such as physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology and bioinformatics, alongside advanced training in key experimental methods required in future research aimed at improving human health.
A key feature of the programme is the opportunity to study a variety of specialist subjects in a combination that allows students to develop their own particular interests in a varied and selective way to develop an advanced level of knowledge and skills required in a broad range of employment organisations involved in research, education, regulatory approval, diagnostic services as well as the commercialisation of biomedical information.
Learning and assessment
A wide variety of teaching methods, appropriate to the learning outcomes of the individual modules, are employed throughout the programme, and are supported by formative assessment.
The teaching methods progressively focus on student-centred approaches to learning, thus you will be expected to take increasing responsibility for your own learning as you progress through the programme.
In this way you are expected to develop the attributes needed for life-long learning and continued professional development.
Career prospects
Many students go on to study for PhDs either at Bradford or elsewhere.
Some graduates take up positions as teaching assistants in Biomedical Sciences in their home countries.
