Introduction

This course is ideal for students wishing to work within the engineering industry. Students firstly study the HNC Engineering and then have the option to progress to the HND.
The HNC is an eight unit qualification which involves studying four mandatory core subjects and a further four specialist subjects.

Assessment and Progression


There are typically 3-4 assessment tasks per module delivered. The assessment methods used throughout the programme include: Practical assessments Timed assessments Coursework Written assessments The programme specification details the assessment strategy for each module. The HNC is a qualification which is widely recognised in its own right and provides students with the skills required for employment in a range of associated professions. On successful completion of the course students can continue at the college and study the HND in either Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (subject to sufficient numbers). Students can choose to top up to degree level at another higher institution. The point of entry will depend on the chosen institution and the subjects studied and the grades achieved at HNC/D.
