This programme is designed to prepare you for a career in the banking sector, pension or investment funds, hedge funds, consultancy and auditing firms or government regulators. The course prepares students to be professionals who use mathematical models to analyse and solve financial problems under uncertainty. The programme will provide a useful perspective on how capital markets function in a modern economy.You will study a range of topics covering important areas of mathematics. The main focus will be on basic financial mathematics, statistics and probability, no assumptions are made about whether or not you have previously studied these, or have previous experience in the use of computers. In the final year, you will cover some specialised work in financial mathematics and more advanced ideas in probability theory and statistics as well as stochastic modelling, econometrics and finance.This programme also has the option to choose a year abroad in year three, making it a four year programme. You will spend an academic year at one of our partner universities.
