Our degree gives you the chance to learn more about the exciting research our academics are working on, whilst equipping you with the knowledge and skills to carry out your own research.You'll develop your skills in problem solving and analysis. The course will also enable you to enhance and develop your transferable skills in project work, group study and presentations, then apply them in the workplace during your year in industry.There's a range of specialised modules across all branches of mathematics, based upon our diverse research interests.The industry placement opportunity enables you to take what you've learned and apply it to real projects in a professional working environment. The placement year can provide you with a source of income and can even lead to a job offer before you've graduated.The first year of this accredited degree gives you a flavour of the different areas of mathematics on offer. You will cover topics spanning applied mathematics, pure mathematics, statistics and probability. You will work individually and in groups to solve real-world problems using advanced theories and techniques. It helps you to decide what you enjoy and if there are areas in which you want to specialise.
