The best aspect is the student hub, with 24/7 support. The quality of teaching is excellent, and the support available is great.

The study facilities are inconsistent but pretty good. Lots of places to eat on campus but can be expensive. Course is good.

The worst experiences are honestly not enjoying living in the city of Southampton itself. Whilst the transport is great and it's very convenient, it definitely doesn't have the same look and feel as the campus which has been great. Also, often lecture seem very rushed and we don't have enough contact hours for each individual module too. To improve, we need slightly longer teaching terms of say 14 weeks as opposed to 12, 4 or 5 hours contact for each module instead of 3 or 4, and also the option for more career relevant and specific module options e.g. taking something like ML techniques, data science, statistical programming modules which are more in depth and available from say second year onwards once we have a strong foundation in the preliminaries.

The events set up by the student union are very nice and inclusive along with all the societies that are on offer. I think the advertising of these events could be improved though.

At the University of Southampton it’s the student body and community who makes it. The community is unreal and (I think) everyone feels part of it and that they belong. I would say the Students’ Union could actually listen to students more as they feel so far removed from the body they’re meant to represent
