The aims of the course are to provide:
knowledge and competences within the field of marketing and public relations, which includes learning outcomes that are consistent with relevant professional qualifications.
a range of skill sets that are responsive to local, national markets and international markets.

development of students’ ability to apply academic theory and related concepts in the workplace.

In relation to the programme and with reference to the QAA Business and Management Subject Benchmark (Nov 2019), the purpose of business related programmes is threefold:
1. Increasing understanding of organisations, their management, the economy, and the business
environment. Emphasis will be placed on the development and rationale for marketing and public relations, the trends in digital economy and their impact on organisations.
2. Prepare for and develop a career in business related programmes – the degree will seek to develop skills and competences of learners in marketing and public relations in order to enable them identify specific careers in the industry.
3. Enhancement of a wide range of skills and attributes which equip graduates to become effective global citizens. The key goal of the course is to develop competent global marketing and public relations graduates of the future.
The HND stage further develops knowledge and understanding of the marketing and PR. Knowledge of relevant theories is developed in terms of analysis and implementation in the workplace. Learners are introduced to contemporary marketing trends such as digitisation, innovative practices and development of entrepreneurial ideas to create products. Additionally, students will build on the knowledge from marketing communications and how they can be used for relevant stakeholders such as the media.
