Management is the lifeblood of any organisation. Understanding the processes through which organisations develop, transform, and achieve results is the core of management studies. Our MSc challenges your way of thinking – and teaches you to handle strategic situations holistically.

We will help you to become a business leader who can deliver innovative solutions to business problems. On this course, you can work with local organisations to prepare a consultancy project for a business. You will develop essential personal and professional skills, including:

  • leadership
  • resilience
  • critical thinking.

You will be based at the University of Sussex Business School. The school is a member of the United Nations Global Compact network, committed to creating a sustainable and inclusive global economy. We follow the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), which means we incorporate global social responsibility and sustainability values into our teaching and research. We collaborate across disciplines to shape global issues in business, management, and society, making an impact on policy, practice, and people. Our strength is in managing innovation at the interface of business and society while focusing on sustainable strategies and policies.

Career planning is an integral part of this MSc. We offer guidance in thinking about your career objectives and help you present yourself to potential employers with confidence. You also attend a series of guest lectures and events with access to potential employers

This course opens a wide range of career opportunities in strategic or operational management across private, public, and not-for profit sectors. This could include roles such as:

  • management consultancy
  • business analysis
  • innovation management
  • operations management
  • managing human resources.

Problem solving is at the core of your learning experience on this course. One of the dissertation options offers small groups of students the opportunity to prepare a consultancy project for a business.
