Take the first step into a successful career as a business and management researcher, and learn the latest research methods to address contemporary challenges faced by corporations, policymakers and society.IntroductionOur Management MRes is an Economic and Social Research Council recognised degree, which will introduce you to a broad range of traditional research methodologies in business and management, as well as new emerging techniques.The programme is an excellent ‘springboard’ for a PhD in business and management, but you can also study it as a stand-alone master’s degree to get ready for research-focused roles in commercial, policy and professional organisations.Compared to a traditional master’s degrees, the Management MRes places more emphasis on research skills, and allows you to specialise in key business areas, including supply chain management, international business, entrepreneurship, marketing and the world of organisations.You’ll be taught by leading academics who regularly publish in top-tier international journals and have substantial experience in writing and undertaking research grants.They develop new approaches to better understand a variety of business phenomena, overcome the associated challenges and take advantage of opportunities to increase performance and growth.Who is this course for?The Management MRes is an excellent choice if you hold a management or business related degree, and would like to move onto a PhD or pursue a future career in academia.The programme is also an ideal option if you are working – or intend to work – in commercial, policy and professional organisations where research represents a significant part of your activity.
We accept a 2:2 honours degree from a UK university, or an equivalent academic qualification from a similar non-UK institution. This degree should be in in business and management disciplines.
If you dont hold an undergraduate degree in business and management disciplines, but you have a relevant professional background, your application will be assessed in accordance with the principles of the Universitys AP(E)L policy, and the practice and precedents of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
