MA User Experience (UX/UI) is a research-led, practice-focused course designed for students who want to strengthen their understanding of user-centred design, develop advanced creative and strategic skills, and critically explore the cultural and ethical dimensions of digital experience. Whether progressing directly from a BA or returning to study after time in industry, students will be supported in navigating new methods of enquiry, reflecting on their practice, and shaping their personal design direction.The MA User Experience (UX/UI) course offers a critical and practice-led environment for advanced designers to explore and shape the future of digital experience design. It combines creative experimentation, user-centred research, and strategic thinking to support the development of sophisticated, industry-relevant work.You'll engage with complex design challenges, live briefs, and interdisciplinary collaboration – producing high-quality portfolios that blend research insight with refined visual and interaction design. Ethical and values-driven design underpins the course, encouraging you to address themes such as accessibility, inclusion, digital wellbeing, and data ethics through both critical discourse and applied practice.Entrepreneurial thinking is woven throughout, equipping you with the tools to navigate freelance careers, launch ventures, or lead within digital product teams. As graduates, you'll leave with a distinct professional voice, capable of delivering meaningful, responsible, and future-facing UX/UI solutions.
Academic entry requirements You'll usually have BA (Hons) degree graded at 2.1 or above, or an equivalent UK or international qualification in your chosen subject or a related discipline. Alternative Qualifications/Experience Applicants with other than the required academic qualifications will be considered for entry if there is sufficient evidence to indicate that they have the potential to fulfil the objectives of the course of study and to achieve the standard of the final award. Applications are also welcomed from those with other qualifications or with work experience which demonstrates appropriate knowledge and skills to study at postgraduate level.
