This course includes a year-long preparatory course of study to ready you for your Masters course, developing your specialist knowledge, research skills and confidence in working alone. The Pre-Masters course is taught at UCA Farnham and once completed you move to UCA Canterbury for your Masters course. This Fine Art course fosters a strong sense of community and group responsibility within the studio, creating a space to work that is informed, critical and supportive, and that helps you develop and trust your own judgement and creativity. You’ll learn within a dynamic and multi-national community of fellow students, faculty, and visiting experts, and be supported by a committed team of tutors who are accomplished artists and academics of their own international standing and recognition. At UCA Canterbury, there is an inclusive and expansive approach to fine art, as both a material practice and a way of thinking so you can work within an interdisciplinary context to understand and build upon relationships between art, design, architecture and curation. You’ll embrace fine art’s rich material and conceptual histories and its potential in today’s diverse transnational and intercultural contexts. You’ll also learn about traditional techniques and emerging technologies as you reach your individual potential as a professional artist.
