MA Fine Art: Photography at Camberwell College of Arts investigates photography as a popular technology and as a material and technological apparatus. We understand photography not only as a record of the past, but as an exploratory and enquiring process that informs the future. MA Fine Art: Photography supports and challenges you to develop your work through seminars, lectures and experimental workshops. There’ll be opportunities to exhibit and test new ways of working creatively with photography and its surrounding practices. The course encourages an open-minded and diverse practice with photography. At its centre is an active engagement in forms of climate, racial, social and economic justice.Industry experience and opportunitiesThe course will develop your skills in creative leadership, problem-solving, collaboration, resourcefulness and communication. You’ll also learn how to sustain open-ended lines of enquiry, an essential skill in any professional setting.You’ll have plenty of opportunities to showcase your practice including organising and participating in public events and exhibitions. A programme of talks and workshops will help you identify which part of the art world you would like to contribute to after graduation.You’ll work with internationally recognised tutors and guest lecturers to build a community and network of practice. The course works closely with: The Global Photographies Network, an Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funded partnership of universities and professional organisations.The Kraszna-Krausz Foundation and its award for excellence in publishing.Peckham 24 Photography, a leading local contemporary photography festival.Mode of studyMA Fine Art: Photography is offered in full-time mode and runs for 45 weeks over 15 months. You will be expected to commit an average of 40 hours per week to your course, including teaching hours and independent study.
