This course includes a year-long preparatory course of study to ready you for your Masters course, developing your specialist knowledge, research skills and confidence in working alone. MA Fashion Photography at UCA Epsom is an intensive one-year course designed for creatives with an ongoing photographic practice and a strong interest in fashion, as well as those looking to refine and innovate within their existing approach to fashion image-making. The programme's ethos is rooted in developing the next generation of visual disruptors, those who challenge convention, push creative and cultural boundaries and bring thought-provoking perspectives to fashion photography. Successful applicants typically demonstrate both a nuanced command of photographic technique and a capacity for critical thinking about the narratives that shape fashion, identity and representation. The course centres on independent project-based development, enabling you to conceptualise, produce and disseminate bold, original bodies of work. You will be taught by staff who are active within the field and supported by a suite of analogue and digital photography facilities, encouraging both independent and collaborative exploration. The curriculum is enriched by industry engagement and challenges you to take initiative in publishing or exhibiting your work in both academic and public contexts. As new digital tools continue to reshape visual culture, the course encourages a curious and critical approach to how these developments expand the possibilities of fashion image-making and challenge established modes of practice. A strong experimental approach is central to the course, enabling you to develop a critically informed and distinctive visual language. This foundation supports work that can translate into a range of contexts, whether fashion editorial, campaign development, art-based bodies of work, tech-led forms of fashion image-making.
