Overview
Our Masters programmes offer you an intensive personal programme of creative and stimulating study within a supportive critical and practical framework that enables you to examine, interrogate and reflect upon the nature and role of your chosen practice.
We encourage diversity in thinking and making, acknowledging the potential in material exploration, collaborative working, cross-fertilisation of ideas, and the exploration of new and vital concepts. Critical enquiry and practice-based exploration are central to the programmes, helping you to make dynamic and challenging work that resonates and reflects your key concerns in light of current national and international dialogues.
Our MA Ceramics programme encourages makers to develop an individual voice and gives you the tools to establish yourself as a ceramicist. You will be challenged and encouraged to explore your aesthetic and conceptual sensibilities through experimentation in the medium of ceramics.
This programme emphasises research through making, to develop an informed critical framework, driven by material thinking. The programme is uniquely placed to offer a rich cross-disciplinary practice; you will have access to our spacious and well-equipped metal and jewellery studios, as well as ceramics, glass and resistant materials workshops, and our superbly equipped Fab Lab.
Our programmes offer professional skills development to support our students as they progress within industry, self-employment (in the Creative Industries sector) and further Level 7 and 8 studies.
Alumni of our Graduate School pursue careers in the fields of fine art, craft and design, as practising artists, teachers, curators, and as gallery, theatre and technical professionals. Others go on to prepare for doctoral study, and set up viable projects as socially engaged and community-based practitioners.
The second module offers an opportunity to test out the practices being investigated by individual students within an appropriate, live setting.
