I cannot fault the staff on the Applied Humanities degree; their dedication to learning and student success is outstanding. They go above and beyond to build confidence and tailor assignments so you can achieve your best results. The support doesn’t stop at the classroom—student services and networking opportunities across the university help you grow personally and professionally. From guidance on assignments to connecting you with future career paths, they work with you every step of the way. One key improvement for Birmingham Newman University would be upgrading the library printing system. Students often struggle to connect their laptops to printers, which wastes time and causes frustration. Introducing a reliable wireless printing solution, providing clear setup guides, and offering on-site IT support during peak hours would make printing far easier. Adding a live printer status dashboard and maintaining regular checks would ensure smooth operation and a better student experience

The support system is great overall, I was in a tough spot after not meeting the requirements to get into another university and felt like I was out of option. I was then recommended this university and I was skeptical at first until I was told I could attend a one to one coaching session before accepting my unconditional offer. When I started the course (I started a month late) I was worried that I would not be able to keep up however I realised all the work was easily accessible and readily available for me to utilise whenever I needed. There are also scheduled monthly catchup session for debriefing and answering any inquiries or questions about the work. This allows students to raise any concerns with tutors and work collaboratively with other students in debates and group discussions. There is also an option of booking one to one coaching sessions wherein you speak to tutors about anything you are worried about personally and if needed, receive help on any work you are behind or unsure about. The online sessions are done on teams which is a highly accessible platform. Only downside Is the use of Microsoft Sway instead of PowerPoint or Word, the website gets a bit tricky to use at times as I am unfamiliar with it. However tutors are very approachable and encouraging and can help regarding this matter (after getting some input for tutors and other students I feel a lot more comfortable using Microsoft Sway).

I believe Birmingham Newman University is a great place to study due to the following reasons; It creates an enabling and conducive environment for learners and personal, i have never found an environment to friendly and safely like when i am on campus at Birmingham Newman University. Another reason is that the management, staff students and graduates from the University are friendly and readily available to help. Birmingham Newman University is not just a world class citadel of learning but a home away from home because of its world class facilities and state of the art structures. The environment is clean, safe and homely. The lecturers also play a vital role as they always go above and beyond to ensure that students get the help and support that they need. Personally, i feel a sense of belonging being a student of Birmingham Newman because all that i ever dreamt about are embedded in Birmingham Newman University. I have always imagined university that embrace the doctrines of equality and diversity and that understand that there are and will be students and prospective students and members of staff with different needs and abilities, and took steps to proactively adapt their educational system and facilities to suit it learners. If i am given the opportunity to choose a place to study, i will choose Birmingham Newman University over and over again because of it social inclusion and zero tolerance for discrimination, segregation and exclusion. Lastly, i have and will continue to recommend Birmingham Newman University, to my friends, family, colleagues and to anyone that believe in studying in a place without fear or the feeling of being alone.. Birmingham Newman University is indeed home away from home.

It is a supportive environment with a positive and friendly vibe across the entire campus. All staff make time for you include housekeeping and other service areas that you would not usually expect to take the time. It is possibly the only institution I know where even senior staff like the Vice Chancellor have a visible presence on campus, which adds to the commitment from staff to maintain a community feel for all. The students union have been superb, and go above and beyond. They are an extremely small team yet they make every effort to ensure they do what they can to enhance the student experience.

A lot of support for all aspects of life, not just study. Great staff, friendly student community. Good engagement with course material and tutors are available to help. Nice food, plus drinks from the onsite Starbucks. Good access to Uni and surrounding area. Parking needs improvement, give more advice to students about where they are able to park a bit further away and walk if car park is full, as residential streets end up full or dangerous for locals. Giving fines doesn’t work. I’m enjoying my course so far.
