An increasingly globalised economy has witnessed a significant increase in cross-border transactions. These transactions have introduced complex legal challenges for lawyers working with international business disputes. Our LLM in International Commercial Law explores the nature of these transactions and the legal, political, economic, and social factors that influence them. You’ll examine how international business operates through trade, licensing of technology, and foreign direct investment. The course also offers the chance to specialise in areas such as dispute resolution, international trade, and intellectual property. You’ll develop advanced legal insight and a global perspective to support your career ambitions and strengthen your professional network. What will I study? We are focused on providing you with the tools needed to progress your career to the next level through enhancing your professional development, academic potential and problem-solving skills by acquiring a critical understanding of the complex legal, economic, cultural and political issues informing English and international regulations. You'll study core module on commercial law and contemporary legal issues, and analyse current developments related to the advancement of society through a legal lens. You'll examine the political and legal framework that large commercial interests and states use to negotiate their political and legal commitments and how these are enforced. A key part of the courses is legal research on a topic of your choosing at an advanced level. In addition to this, you will be able to further tailor the course to your interests by choosing from a selection of optional modules. You could delve into intellectual property law, EU competition law, or policies around international trade.
