Course Overview
Our dynamic LLM in International Commercial Dispute Resolution course invites you to explore how the law can assist and facilitate the resolution of international or cross-border commercial disputes and thus world trade.
With the significant rise in international trade and business over the past few decades, there has been a corresponding increase in complex cross-border commercial disputes, requiring specialised management and resolution techniques distinct from purely domestic disputes. Most leading international law firms have dedicated departments for international dispute resolution, making this course essential for those aspiring to a career in cross-border dispute resolution, international trade and commerce, or trade-related government roles.
House in the historic Earlham Hall, at UEA Law School you will learn to think from an international legal perspective and will gain comparative knowledge of various approaches to international commercial dispute resolution. In addition to studying international commercial litigation and international commercial arbitrations, you can choose to select specialised international commercial dispute resolution modules, such as investment law and arbitration, Sharia Arbitration, and international construction law and dispute resolution.
You will join a vibrant, dynamic community of students from diverse backgrounds. We offer placement opportunities and chances to build your CV through extra-curricular activities and the Law School’s unique employability programme. You could benefit from our alumni-mentoring scheme, as well as attend our many career events where you can network with law firms, barrister chambers and alumni. You can apply for internship placements, attend careers panels, commercial awareness workshops, mock job interviews, our annual Law Careers Fair and many other events organised by the UEA Law School and the Careers Service.
We have developed an exciting programme of opportunities tailored specifically to the needs of our postgraduate students so that upon graduation, you will be well equipped with a global legal perspective and the in-demand expertise, and skills needed to thrive in private practice, industry roles, or governmental and regulatory positions.
Students need to have UK Bachelors degree - 2.2 or equivalent in Law or Cognate.
