OVERVIEW

The legal profession, like many others, is evolving rapidly due to new developments such as the digitalisation of the sector, changing the way in which lawyers operate. As a result, it is important for anyone looking to enter the profession to know about these developments, as well as having a solid foundation in legal knowledge and skills.

A career in law presents a wide variety of employment opportunities for students, from representing and advising clients as a solicitor or barrister, to creating powerful research and shaping law and policy, to name just a few.

Legal education for the future

On our course, which is equivalent to the GDL, we’ll help you to develop an understanding of the profession in the context of the evolving role and professional identity of those who work in it. We will help you start to plan your career and to identify professional behaviours and soft skills, such as creativity and adaptability, that are increasingly required in practice. You’ll learn about the role of digital and business skills in professional practice and will start to develop a professional mindset from the very beginning of the course, enhancing your employability and capacity to be a successful legal professional.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS

  • Enhance your CV – you’ll develop the professional skills you need to forge a career in law. Your previous education and experience will add an extra dimension to your CV.

  • Funding available – if you are a UK resident, you may be eligible for the Postgraduate Loan Scheme if you study the full masters degree.

  • Dynamic legal centre – you’ll study in Manchester, a city which has a thriving legal sector, with a wide range of national and international firms that specialise in diverse areas of legal practice.
