If youve already completed an LLB law degree or a Graduate Diploma in Law, then the MProf in Legal Practice will build upon your existing legal education. And is the next step to becoming a qualified Solicitor.

The two-year Professional Masters programme is designed for people who wish to qualify as a solicitor. It is a non-integrated Higher Level Apprenticeship (HLA) pathway, designed to deliver the Solicitor Apprenticeship qualification.

Designed for those who have completed an LLB law degree or Graduate Diploma in Law. The MProf course gives you the additional knowledge required to undertake the Solicitors Regulation Authorities (SRAs) central Solicitor Qualification Exams (SQE 1 & 2). Which allow you to qualify as a Solicitor through our Solicitor Apprenticeship programme.

This course provides you with an opportunity to develop your work-based skills and behaviours – the ‘solicitor competences – required of a solicitor in legal practice and provides an accelerated route to qualification through the Solicitor Apprenticeship. For those who do not have a degree-level legal qualification but wish to undertake the Solicitor Apprenticeship then our 5 year part-time LLB in Legal Practice is the route to take.

Why study with us

This course is focused around developing your career. Throughout your degree, youll be presented with opportunities to maximise your personal development, solicitor competences and, ultimately, to become a qualified solicitor.

Our Law courses are ranked 1st in the North West for individual support* and are taught by professionally qualified and research active lecturers. With experience in practice as solicitors, barristers, judges and senior managers in major organisations. (*Number of students per member of the teaching staff) Guardian University Guide, 2021

Youll study in a highly practical learning environment, designed to develop your ability to deal with real-life legal situations. You'll get individual support to maximise your potential and career aspirations, whilst gaining transferable skills.

Who is this course for?

This programme is for individuals aiming to become a Solicitor. Solicitors are responsible for providing legal advice to clients – applying their knowledge and commercial judgement to find a solution to problems.

The full range of legal skills includes research, interviewing and advising, advocacy, negotiation, drafting, communicating orally and in writing, establishing and maintaining effective and professional relationships with clients and other people and managing yourself and your own work effectively. Solicitors act ethically with a high level of professionalism and judgement.
