Overview
This programme is designed to help you progress as a healthcare professional. It will give you both the skills and the professional qualification you need to apply for more senior leadership and management positions within health and social care.
Our team of experienced academics and practitioners focus on competent management and effective leadership, giving students from both clinical and managerial backgrounds the tools required to deliver service improvement and sustainable change in health and social care settings.
The programme is suitable for those working in both clinical and non-clinical roles:
You will have the opportunity to study with people from a variety of different services and settings. The programme is designed to fit into busy working schedules and to be as useful as possible to both yourself and your employer; we combine study and assessment of theory alongside its application within a work setting.
Learning and assessment
This programme combines study and assessment of theory alongside its application to practice.
Study is through a blending learning approach including attendance on campus for each module, a virtual learing environment to support study, and ongoing tutor support.
Assessment of the programme includes practical application of skills and knowledge, demonstrating a theoretical understanding and enabling you to grow in confidence.
Career prospects
The programme is targeted at aspiring international healthcare professionals who wish to apply for leadership and management positions within health and social care, as well as those already working as allied health professionals, clinical scientists, nurses or doctors.
The course is also suitable for those working in a variety of non-clinical roles, for example, commissioners, quality improvement managers, clinical auditors, risk management, team leaders, social workers, patient advocates, or in the voluntary sector.
This course has enabled previous graduates to go on to more senior roles within their organisations, as well as secondments to national bodies.
The University welcomes applications from all potential students, and offers are made following detailed consideration of each individual application. The decision to offer a place is based on our assessment of a candidate’s potential to benefit from their studies and of their ability to succeed on this particular programme. Whilst you will normally hold a first degree or professional qualification we will consider your application if you do not possess such a qualification but have appropriate health and social care work experience.
