This programme is designed to help you progress as a healthcare professional. It will give you both the skills and the professional qualification you need to apply for more senior leadership and management positions within health and social care.
Our team of experienced academics and practitioners focus on competent management and effective leadership, giving students from both clinical and managerial backgrounds the tools required to deliver service improvement and sustainable change in health and social care settings.
The programme is suitable if you:
are working in a clinical or non-clinical role
are already working as an allied health professional, clinical scientist, nurse or doctor, and wish to pursue managerial opportunities
are working within the health and social care or voluntary sector in a role such as commissioning, quality improvement, clinical auditing or risk management and are looking to take the next step in your career
have completed an undergraduate programme in a relevant discipline and have some experience in health and social care
You will have the opportunity to study with people from a variety of different services and settings. The programme is designed to fit into your busy working schedule and to be as useful as possible to both yourself and your employer.
We combine study and assessment of theory alongside its application within a work setting.
The University welcomes applications from all potential students. An important factor in the decision to offer a place is our assessment of your potential to benefit from your studies and your ability to succeed on this particular programme.
Consideration of applications will be based on a combination of formal academic qualifications and other relevant experience:
You will hold a first degree at 2:2 or above, or acceptable professional qualification
You need to have significant and relevant experience, which would typically be at least two years of experience in the health and social care sector
Application is based on submission of an online application form, CV and interview, if required, to discuss the content and expectations of the programme.
Applications are also welcome from students with non-standard qualifications but with significant relevant experience. However, applications with non-standard qualifications would be considered individually and additional selection activities would apply.
Additional entry requirements
Recognised English qualification, for example, GCSE English grade A-C.
