This course gives you the opportunity to study a range of philosophical and legal topics. Your philosophy modules provide an introduction to the major topics of philosophy, while your legal modules analyse the major divisions of common law (contract, tort and crime) and the relation between the citizen and the state (public law).This joint course provides you with a thorough academic training in the two disciplines and develops your critical, analytical, and argumentative skills. This enables you to apply methods of philosophical analysis to legal issues and foster an awareness of the legal dimensions of moral and ethical issues. By the end of this course, you are equipped with highly developed skills of critical thought, analysis and argumentation.Your optional topics may include:- Legal ethics and justice- Human rights- Law and Literature- Ethics- Political philosophyAt Essex we specialise in commercial law, public law, and human rights law.
