You will be taught by experts from the School of Law and Department of Sociology, with fundamentals of the discipline criminology integrated in your programme from the start of your degree. You'll have the opportunity to take a range of optional modules related to contemporary issues in criminology in your second and final years. Together with our active and enthusiastic student cohort, we have created one of the most vibrant and stimulating law schools in the country.Graduation from Surrey will stand you in good stead for accessing the postgraduate qualifications necessary to become a solicitor or a barrister. To best ensure this opportunity, we have partnered with the University of Law to facilitate access to the solicitors’ courses offered there. Our award-winning Professional Training placements prepare students for roles in industry.Our LLB (Hons) Law with Criminology course will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to proceed to professional legal qualifications as a solicitor or barrister and to engage critically with the principles of law. You will also gain an awareness of current issues in criminology – from debates surrounding criminal justice, to social control and the role of the police. We blend traditional and modern teaching methods to help you gain an extensive understanding of the law and the legal system. This will allow you to tackle the fundamental issues of fairness, justice and equality that are at the heart of every society.
