The LLB (Hons) Law with Criminology degree could be for you.As an LLB law degree from University of Staffordshire, this degree will give you strong foundations to proceed to further qualification as a legal professional for those students who wish to practise Law. All our law degree courses include study of core modules focusing on the foundations of legal knowledge and also the key skills for legal study, including research, written and verbal communication, problem solving and the use of IT. The unique feature of this course is that it also allows you to explore academic and professional interests in the field of CriminologyFor each of the first two years of your degree you will study a programme of core modules in Law and one core module in Criminology. In your final year you will combine 80 credits of Law optional modules with 40 credits of study in Criminology. Your Law options enable you to tailor your course to your academic and professional interests, and include modules which complement your studies in Criminology, for example, Contemporary Developments in Criminal Law.Throughout your course Criminology modules will introduce you to key theories and concepts in Criminology giving you a unique perspective on the rest of your studies, for example, theories behind offending behaviour, and interventions available to manage offenders. You will be supported by academics in both the Law and Criminology teams to ensure that you acquire the academic skills required for studying in two different disciplines.We build authentic experiences into every stage of your course. Use our digitally-enabled mock courtrooms to make legal submissions, getting essential experience for practice. Our Legal Clinic module offers you the opportunity to gain real-world experience by giving written advice to real clients. You will find that assessments are also designed to ensure that you develop key skills for graduate employment as you learn, and are based in authentic case studies and scenarios that you could find in the real world.Possible graduate career opportunities for students who have studied this course include not only Law but also: policing, probation, and the court service. Note that postgraduate study and further qualifications may be required for some of these graduate roles.
