Overview

  • You will graduate with both a qualifying law degree and a high level of business and commercial awareness.
  • Our invaluable connections with external partners provide the necessary expertise and insight to shape the design of our programmes, ensuring that our teaching is informed by best practice in the workplace.
  • Our Flamank Law Society will give you the opportunity to network with local law firms and sharpen your mooting and debating skills ready for competitions
  • You’ll join an intentionally small community of students with small class sizes and benefit from a bespoke, exceptional, active and inquiry led learning experience.
  • We help prepare you for your future career by embedding transferrable skills across the programme and by including activities such as employer visits, pro bono and skills sessions.

How will I be assessed?

  • Essays
  • Open-book exams
  • Portfolio of work
  • Research projects
  • Mock case preparation
  • Oral presentations
  • Client management
  • Reflective journals

You must pass your first year modules in order to proceed but your performance at this level does not count towards your final degree classification.

Career paths

The wealth of knowledge and transferable skills gained studying a Business and Law degree enables graduates to pursue employment in a wide range of careers including:

  • Banking, accounting and finance
  • Advertising, marketing and PR
  • Journalism and media
  • Charity, not-for-profit and NGO’s
  • Human resources and recruitment
  • Politics
  • Teaching

Why choose a year on an Industrial Placement?

Spending up to a year carrying out a graduate-level work placement as part of your degree programme is an invaluable opportunity. It unlocks a world of experience that allows you to develop essential employability and transferrable skills for your future career. You will take full responsibility for finding and organising your placement in a business setting of your choosing (either in the UK or abroad), with preparation, support and approval from the University. This is a great way to demonstrate to employers your adaptability, commercial awareness, independence and resourcefulness.
