The University of Strathclyde offers a range of courses which, in my experience, offer a practical style of teaching that sets up students incredibly well for the workplace upon graduation. This style of teaching is absolutely part of the reason I secured a graduate role in my penultimate year of study at my dream company, and I believe it has set me up well for the work I will do within this job and beyond. The University has a really positive atmosphere. It does not feel snobby at all, despite being its high rankings in university ratings publications and its quality of teaching. The social aspect of it is really warm and welcoming, and there are so many ways to get involved.

Highly praised for their course and classes they provide. Could be improved with more interaction from tutors. They at times do not respond to emails. Strathclyde also at times does not have enough available seating.

Best aspects are that I feel thoroughly educated and have resources at my finger tips to increase my knowledge and learn more The worse aspect of university for me is commuting to and from uni - I live an hour away and it’s quite physically exhausting

Facilities - There is rarely enough space for all students to sit and study across campus. This includes our brand new buildings and library. Location - It is in the city centre of Glasgow which is perfect for commuting students and getting into town. Trying to find accommodation can be very expensive and difficult to find however, this isn't something that has impacted myself personally. Student support: The student support that I have received personally as well as witnessing others receiving has been nothing short of fantastic. There are so many great resources in the university for a variety of issues. They have been very supportive and this has helped make a positive impact on my experience at uni. The only thing which could potentially be improved on is the advertising and signposting within the uni. Asking for help can be very intimidating and more transparency of those processes would be helpful for students. Campus look and feel: The campus look itself isn't great. The mix between between very old and modern buildings isn't very consistent with the skyline. Notoriously nice looking university's tend to have nicer grounds whereas we lack any green spaces in the uni to socialise on. Additionally, these nicer looking campuses tend tp have more consistent looking spaces. The students are always there and socialising which makes the campus feel nice and student-y. Student life: There is great student life with societies and sports clubs. It would be more helpful if businesses in Glasgow were to reach out more with the University and allow students to experience Glasgow properly. Students Union: The Union building itself is very fun and a great space for all students. The Union and its sections are great and have made lots of progress the last few years in terms of approachability and outreach. It's a great union for the university and really represents the students views - which is a lot of the time quite separate to the university staffs' motivations.

Great location which gives access to a multitude of shops, friendly community, lecturers tend to be friendly and engaging, easy and quick access to a library with vast resources. There are frequent events and opportunities to gain insight into future prospects and job opportunities. Information is often provided in a timely manner. Now onto improvements. In terms of lecture materials, these could be improved upon for certain modules with PowerPoints clearly labelled and uploaded onto the university student website (MyPlace) in a timely manner. It would also be very beneficial for the university to record lectures and make these available to all students, which can be accessed if a student is unwell or has personal circumstances preventing them from attending a lecture. Please also make sure every lecturer knows how to use a PowerPoint... Facilities for extracurricular activities, particularly in the musical field, need to be improved. There are societies, such as the piano society, that often do not even have access to the limited number of pianos at the university.
