The MSc Law & Professional Practice is a two-year postgraduate degree, with the first year available as a stand-alone Postgraduate Diploma. It provides a comprehensive and rigorous introduction to law and practice in preparation for the SQE and a legal career as a solicitor or barrister in an evolving and competitive sector. The programme is open to graduates obtaining a higher 2:1 degree classification or above who have not undertaken, nor are currently undertaking, legal education or training which substantially comprises the study of, and/or practice in, the laws of England and Wales.

Our innovative and professionally focused programme enables students to train in the foundational and specialist areas of the Law and Practice of England & Wales, whilst gaining expertise in analysis, research, and application to ‘real life client and commercially orientated issues in an international context. Students will, in addition: • Gain industry specific knowledge and have opportunities to explore, in-depth, key complementary areas for legal practice such as Legal Technology, Business Strategy and Psychology. • Put their skills into practice through workshops encountering ‘real-life applications and problems, including representing, engaging with, and advising simulated clients. • Access options for work experience with real clients in the Kings Legal Clinic and other pro-bono opportunities. • Develop the systematic mindset required of legal practice along with key ‘practice-ready skills and attributes, such as problem-solving, teamwork, leadership, time and self-management, resilience, confidence, flexibility, creative growth mindset, research, legal analysis, critical thinking, and appropriate, contextualised oral and written communication. • Acquire other vital employability skills via our integrated careers team.

Our Law & Professional Practice programme provides non-law graduates with knowledge in specialist, practice-based legal subjects. This combined with the critical legal practice skills gained will benefit students planning a career in Law. Additionally, the course includes a number of transferable skills, such as the ability to self-manage and communicate well, which are valuable when applying for professional roles.

A minimum high 2:1 undergraduate Bachelors (honours) degree with a final mark of at least 65% or above
If you have a lower degree classification, or a degree in an unrelated subject, your application may be considered if you can demonstrate significant relevant work experience or offer a related graduate qualification (such as a Masters or PGDip).
Programme-Specific Requirements
UK candidates must have a high 2:1 non-Law undergraduate degree with a final mark of at least 65% as this programme is designed for those without formal studies in Law, such as an LLB, GDP, PGDL or some Master's programmes in Legal Practice. All other degree subject areas may be suitable.
In order to meet the academic entry requirements for this programme you should have a minimum high 2:1 undergraduate degree with a final mark of at least 65% or above in the UK marking scheme. If you are still studying you should be achieving an average of at least 65% or above in the UK marking scheme.
Overseas candidates must have a non-law undergraduate degree with equivalence to a high UK 2:1. with a final mark of the equivalent to at least 65% or above. Undergraduate Law degrees, the content of which does not include the study of English and Welsh law, may also be suitable with the same grade requirements.
