The PGCert in Law and Economics is offered by the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS). This specialist programme provides an advanced professional and academic study of Law and Economics, on an interdisciplinary basis which draws significantly from both major disciplines on an integrated basis. It is designed for anyone with an academic background in Law or Economics.The programme involves two core interdisciplinary modules that dive into the intersection of law and economics. The first module looks at a wide range of topics including market failures, behavioural economics, and their application to the law, and how law shapes economic module. This will give you a clear understanding of the relationship between these two areas and provide you with the key analytical skills to develop your knowledge further.The second module delves deeper into the topic, looking at why firms are formed and how they are financed, the economics and law of antirust, mergers and acquisitions. It will give you a thorough understanding of key concepts such as signalling theory and information asymmetries.
A 2:1 or above at undergraduate level in Law or Economics (Finance).
Graduates with a 2:2 honours degree who also have other legal qualifications and/or substantial professional legal experience may also qualify.
