SOAS University of London

SOAS is a wonderful place to study because everyone is really passionate, you have a really wonderful library and so many interesting modules you can take. Most of the lecturers I've met so far are really generous with their time and they are really patient in explaining things. It's a small university and there is a definite feeling of community and pride in being SOAS. The uni has a clear purpose and there's lots of opportunities to get involved in and learn about projects going on all over the world. It's definitely a really good hub for anyone creative, political or interested in humanities. I also love that you can study two things. The main complaint SOASians would have is the intense disorganisation you experience from the management and administration. No-one can escape the chaos. If you are easily frustrated by things that have been badly organised and need a clear schedule, you'll find SOAS challenging. It's a real excercise in flexibility and you have to really learn how to take ownership of organising your university experience. That said, I, and most others I've met, would consider this worth the benfits of studying at SOAS. It's in central London which is super accessible and an amazing place to live, but is expensive and most people work. Just something to think about if you're considering any London uni.

The location is definitely a plus, in my opinion. In the centre of London, everything is accessible and nearby. But I think the societies could be more active.

The friends I’ve met are so nice and I feel like I’ve learnt a lot of Arabic. The administration and sending out information could be improved as everything is given with late notice.
