Course overview

Our MA in Language, Cultures and Translation offers you the chance to develop your linguistic and translation skills to master’s level while providing you with the research methodologies and frameworks necessary to design and complete a dissertation in language-based area studies or translation theory. This MA?offers you the chance to further develop your linguistic skills, both through the production of academic essays and presentations in the target language and through the analysis and generation of texts in translation. An independent portfolio of professional engagement will allow you to explore the application of translation in the world of work and provide opportunities for work shadowing. Research methodologies are taught in context and support the design and completion of your chosen dissertation topic.

We are here to help you plan your future, make the most of your time at University and to enhance your employability. We provide access to part-time jobs, extra-curricular employability-enhancing workshops and offer practical one-to-one help with career planning, including help with CVs, applications and mock interviews. We also deliver group sessions on career planning within each course and we have a wide range of extensive information covering graduate jobs.
