The Foundation Degree in The Internet of Things will equip students with the knowledge and skills for further training and/or employment in the emerging field of connectivity between objects, people, devices and networks. Upon completion of the programme students will be able to:Demonstrate critical understanding and knowledge of principles and techniques across a range of technical (hardware, software, interconnected) solutions to users’ problemsApply principles of computer science to create a range of software and hardware entitiesAnalyse, design, develop and evaluate a range of projects that utilise core concepts of computing in the Internet of ThingsWork effectively independently and as part of a teamDevelop and utilise transferable skills and enhance subject-specific expertise in the technology associated with the Internet of ThingsThe course aims to develop students:As independent reflective practitioners, with a sound understanding of the wider issues relating to the Internet of ThingsWilling to investigate appropriate technological problem solving, supported by research and theory, to meet the needs of clients and users.Who understand the significance of regulatory legislative, quality frameworks and application of the Internet of Things, within national and international contexts, and the societal and cultural uses and impact of such technologies.Personal and practical skills, required to build relationships; lead change; communicate effectively; teamwork and to utilise current and emerging ICT and social media platforms safely.
