Get the perfect start to your degree at DMU with the International Year Zero (IYZ). You will take an extra year of study at DMUIC in order to complete your degree at DMU. Students who take the IYZ will continue to the first year of study of their chosen International Incorporated Bachelor's degree programme at DMU.

Pharmacy

There is huge demand for pharmacists all around the world and qualified pharmacists have a variety of exciting and challenging career choices in the industry – for example, they can work alongside family doctors, in busy hospitals or pursue medicines research.

DMU has invested millions in facilities so you will have access to the very latest laboratory equipment. Our pharmacy school is home to world-leading academics who are conducting life-changing research.

DMU's School of Pharmacy has been producing talented pharmacy graduates for more than 100 years. Once you complete the IYZ, you can continue with your degree of choice in this exciting area.

Once you progress to the MPharm you will need to complete your enhanced DBS application and self-declaration by end of teaching week 3 after enrolment, and self-declaration completed by end of teaching week 1 in years 2 to 4 at the latest. Failure to engage with this process will result in a review of your continued registration, the normal outcome of which will be discontinuation of your registration from the YZ or IYZ MPharm programme. For international students a certificate of good conduct from your home country is required in lieu of a DBS check.

On this course you will:

Have access to DMU’s state-of-the-art laboratories which includes a real-life pharmacy centre

Learn how medicines work in the human body

Discover how medicines are made and tested

Gain a basic understanding of chemical processes in the laboratory
